We have a big discussion here at Tahiti Surf Travel regarding statistics :

• Some (like me) think that there is no problem, in a Web2.0 way, to use previous clients information to be able to give financial information.
  Here is the picture : You are planning for your ideal trip, and you are given an anonymous average amount for the service you will request (based on previous customers quotes)
  Basically, you want to know how cheap is this wonderful hotel, and you get a clue by reading this statistic data prior to send any request to the hotel desk.
• Some others think that it is to tricky, considering that prices are of the essence, and since providers can have price policy that change along the year. It would be a non-accurate info that could disapoint customers, and annoy providers in their relationship with tourists.

Nous avons un grand débat chez TST en ce moment à propos des statistiques :

• Certains (dont je suis) pensent qu'il n'y a pas de problème d'utiliser l'information des clients existant pour donner des estimations financières.
  Imaginez : Vous êtes en train de planifier votre voyage idéal, et vous avez à disposition la moyenne des sommes versées précédemment par d'autres client pour la même prestation (de manière anonyme)
  En gros, vous pouvez savoir le tarif approximatif de ce charmant petit hotel, avant même d'avoir envoyé une demande de devis à la réservation
• D'autres pensent que c'est trop hasardeux car les politiques tarifaires varient en fonction de la date, et un grand nombre de critères. L'info fournie serait alors inexacte et pourrait dérouter les touristes, et mettre les prestataires dans l'embarras dans leurs relations avec les clients.

As you can see in the image above, a proper Gantt diagramm can be really handy when you are planning for a long trip in a complex destination. Since Tahiti and her islands is definitely one of those remote scattered archipelagos, it is a major input in our booking engine to have a graphic image of the complete journey!

 

Comme vous pouvez le voir ci dessus, un diagrame de Gantt (beurk) bien utilisé peut être très utile pour préparer un long séjour dans une destination complexe. La Polynésie étant évidement une de celles-ci, c'est une avancée majeure pour notre moteur de recherche d'avoir une visualisation graphique du voyage complet !
